Jenkins noted that media post 2000 has accelerated participatory culture, in which audiences are active and creative participants rather than passive consumers, as they create online communities, set up events and create modifications to expressive their creativity, and these types of mods have been made in the multi-platform game: Minecraft, where mods (modifications) are regularly occurring and are posted online on various social media platforms such as Youtube.
There are some games which are cross-platform and are published in various different gaming devices. One such game is, Minecraft, which is available on Playstation, Xbox, PC, & IOS. This convergence has also led to the development of different individuals playing the sam game on different consoles.
Due to development of the gaming industry, games have now been distributed digitally and bought with a few clicks, this is evident with Minecraft, which is sold both in disc and digital versions.
Minecraft has become a worldwide phenomenon as there are many Youtubers who prioritise their channel to playing Minecraft. Furthermore, these influencer also create and play mods, which can be shared around. Minecraft has also synergised with many different brands, such as Lego, which is targeted at younger children, and would promote interest in Minecraft, due to their enjoyment of the lego.
Textual poachers have also been popular in the 21st century, as fans have come together and created online communities, where mods can be shared, and conventions can be planned, such as MineCon, where players from all around the world meet and share their passion for the game. There is also limited edition merchandise which would be for sale, that collectors can purchase.
