Advertisements were once important, now they are not, due to advances in technology and busy schedules people tend to stream because they want to avoid adverts.
One of the biggest challenges the advertising industry faces now is that there is a lot of streaming sites and applications that offer the same media but without advertisements. People who watch these advertisements would want to watch a full show without being disturbed, saving them time. This is why top streaming sites and apps like BBC IPlayer, Netflix and ITV Player thrive when it comes to site visits.
Native Advertising: Is when a product is used within media but is not buried nor ath the front or centre.
Branded Content: Branded content (also known as branded entertainment) is a form of advertising that uses the generating of content as a way to promote the particular brand which funds the content's production.
Targeted Advertising: Targeted advertising is a way of placing ads based on demographics, on the consumers' previous buying history or on behaviour. Many types of targeted advertising are used online, but advertisers use in other media as well.
How effective are the native adverts we watch: Native adverts are very effective in the way that they promote their name and/product. Buzzfeed is a big user of native advertisements and so is Facebook. They normally tell you the media or a website you are on is bought buy the media company. This can help make the name of the company product worldwide and has worked a lot with Facebook. It also gets big companies like Facebook income too, this is because they will get paid by the companies.
We watched some native adverts in class, one of which was an Arianna Grande music video, where Arianna is clearly shown using a Samsung phone. This is very effective for both parties because Grande will get a large income and Samsung will get to show off their most popular phone to a different demographic.
